“Last month I decided to participate in the 21-Day Detoxification Program. My initial motivation was simple; I wanted to experience the program for myself so that I could decide whether to recommend it later. Indeed, it was consciousness-raising and far exceeded my expectations.

On April 23rd 12 of us (including 3 couples and one fellow who had completed the program a few years ago) embarked on a 3 week endeavor to “get healthier.” One of the first exercises we completed as part of understanding our motivations forced me to look at what I was really eating on a daily basis. Nutrition is important to me, but suddenly I had to acknowledge that I had allowed my busy schedule to get in the way of eating healthy and whole foods. I was dining out almost daily and relying on things I could gobble on-the-go.

When I first learned that we had to eliminate wheat, dairy, sugar, alcohol and caffeine, I wondered out loud with the group what could possibly be left. Amazingly, and with Leah’s sage guidance, we all discovered food gems we now wonder how we lived without.

We experimented with recipes and new concepts of how to satisfy ourselves, and each of us shed a few pounds (some more than 10 lbs!), whether we had hoped to or not. I can enthusiastically report that I now feel more in control of my food choices, empowered instead of remaining a victim of my busy life, more energetic, and I did get relief from longstanding intestinal complaints that I had resigned myself long ago just to live with.
